EC refutes Imran Khans claims, states law, order responsibility of provincial govt
KP government had been the advised for phase-wise elections, stated ECP
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission (EC) rejected Imran Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) government allegations on Monday. According to EC, maintenance of law and order situation during local body elections is the responsibility of provincial government, reported Dunya News.

According to EC, additional police force had been taken from Interior Mininsty in addition to contingent of Army troops from GHQ.
EC has written in the statement that recommendation for phase-wise local body elections had been given to KP government but the local government was adamant on holding local body elections in one day.
EC stated that had KP government heeded the advice for phase-wise elections, the situation could have been improved.
All persons who are involved in breaking the rules, stated ECP, shall be strictly dealt with.
